Receive insights on modern innovative treatment of cancer and participate in a live Q&A session with medical professionals in the oncology field. The session is aimed at raising awareness and educating cancer patients in Thailand, who are at high risk of COVID-19 infection and complications, by minimizing their concerns when receiving treatment at the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Farid Bidgoli, GM for Roche Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos stated, "Traditional pathways of care require people with cancer to receive treatments and consultations in a hospital setting. There are obvious concerns from both physicians, patients and caregivers that this could increase their risk and exposure to the COVID-19 virus. However, COVID-19 through necessity is making us all rethink healthcare delivery. Digitally enabled pathways using telehealth, remote monitoring, as well as healthcare at home, online pharmacy and home delivery of medicines, have all become the ‘New Normal’. By re-imagining pathways and selecting more innovative treatment options, we are able to reduce treatment time by over 50 per cent1,2. It is fantastic to see that some hospitals in Thailand and abroad are now offering cancer treatments at home or in a community setting. Patient experience and outcomes of care are equally important and when you can deliver this more efficiently as we are seeing now, then it is clearly something we should be embracing and adopting more broadly. COVID-19 has been a black cloud, but the rapid evolution of healthcare delivery has been the silver lining."
